The Americans with Disabilities Act passed in the late '90s was created with the goal to provide accessible housing for all people with disabilities. This would ensure they can enjoy economic self-sufficiency, independent living, and equality of opportunity. Accessible housing also plays a key role in improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities. At DIDEPAS, we are dedicated to providing disability accommodation and housing for disabled people through accessible infrastructure and financial assistance.
Sadly, even with the act in place in the United States and around the world, people with disabilities do not have accessible housing provided to them. This has resulted in the already marginalized community to be excluded from society even further. It has also increased the prevalence of health issues, poverty, and homelessness among the disabled.
Disability Inclusive Development Programs And Services with the help of our team of amazing people are working towards a better tomorrow for the differently-abled by ensuring they have equal housing opportunities and accessible homes in the community. We help modify the homes of persons with disabilities to make them more accessible according to the level of disability.
- Entrance ramps
- Accessible parking structures
- Bathrooms on the lower levels of the house
- Elevators in the house
- Grab bars in the bathrooms
- Extra-wide doors and hallways
- Grab handles on doors
- Wheelchair accessible features
We also match various differently-abled persons with suitable homes for them and their families to live comfortably and independently.
DIDEPAS also hosts regular fundraisers all over the United States and Africa, as well as various disability awareness programs to encourage the local communities to support persons with disabilities within their communities. We use the funds collected to provide sound financial help to those who can't afford accessible housing or modification expenses for their homes.
